The Hullabaloo Online - Know Your Campus: Honors Program

The Hullabaloo has just run a piece on the H program. Christina Le did a nice job, but I want to clarify a few things:

While I joined the Honors Program in 2003, I was only Associate Director. "Dean Jean" Danielson was the Director. It was her last of many years (14) and the Program's success is due in large part to her, particularly to her commitment to the students.

Graduation Requirements - These seemed somewhat confused in the article so please allow me to clarify.

The GPA required to join or remain in the Honors Program is a 3.45 for Freshmen and Sophomores and 3.6 for Juniors and Seniors.

In order to graduate with University Honors
Current Students
need 2 Honors courses at the 300 level or above; to complete a senior thesis; the appropriate GPA (3.6 for magna cum laude and 3.8 for summa cum laude).
Incoming Students (class of 2009) will need 4 Honors courses (2 of which must be 300 or above); to complete the thesis; the appropriate GPA (3.6 for magna cum laude and 3.8 for summa cum laude).
